opinions needed.....

today i took my TJ to a local meet where they had a small course set up. i went through the course once. didn't have any problems as it was a "light wheelin" course. it had a small rock garden & very small mud pit. but i noticed on my way home i was getting a rattling noise coming from what might be the front passenger area.

also noticed a couple times that when i was making turns (slow turns) the steering felt weird. almost like it was "pulsating" or getting tight then loose as i was turning. but when i was at a light turning the wheel left & right (even going from full lock to full lock) the steering was smooth. i tried getting under the jeep (best i could with still having a 3 year old with me) and tried to move things around, but didn't see or feel anything loose.

i took a video of the noise. really noticeable around 1:15.

anyone have any suggestions on what could be my problem or what i should check. thanks.

I have the same issue. I also just found my u-joints are seriously in need of replacement. I'm not sure if that's the cause, but its worth checking.

Might it be stuck in 4WD still?

nah, not that kind of pulsating when turning. it's very slight. and the thing is it doesn't happen all the time.....or at least i only notice it sometimes.

Could it be wear in the upper and lower ball joints, mine is very similar.

only question is, if it were u-joints or ball joints, wouldn't it do the same symptoms while sitting still & moving the steering wheel?
