opinions needed please

bought a 2000 sahara (4.0, 3.07 gears, auto) that po had put lift on, looks to be 2-3" (not sure if there is a way to be precise) Anyways, I need new tires and currently the 31/10.5/15s seem to bubble out, ive been told this is caused by the current rims needing a wider tire. My choices are as follows....

new 31/10.5/15s and deal with it though ive been told they will wear faster
or
33/12.5/15s (all terrain)

We do some light trail riding and fart around town when its nice out, no heavy rock climbing or anything. Would I be ok to stick with the 31s or would it be better to spend the extra few bucks on the 33s?

thanks for any help

Have you considered selling your current wheels and replacing them with correct width wheels? You can find a set of used OEM wheels for cheap and sell your current wheels on craigslist

I bet your 3.07 geared auto Sahara would better with a set of 30" tires on 15 x 8 wheels......be great for light trail work and really nice for street driving.

Trust me, your 31x10.50 tires do not need a wider wheel. The optimal wheel width for that size tire is a 15x7 and certainly no wider than 15x8. 15x8 would be optimal for 33x12.50.

thanks guys, I don't mind the 31s one bit, although 33s would look a bit better, its also more money! I will talk to a different tire guy and see what I can do, thanks for the help
