He said he'd either fix the issues, or discount the Jeep...but he's not really willing to do both. So, it'd end up being $15k for a Jeep with the most noticeable problems fixed. I'm sure it'll still have some issues that they didn't catch--it's just my willingness to put up with them.

I just wish it was closer to me...that's what is making me hesitate. I want to be 100% in on getting it, but I'm not sure I'm all the way there yet....

TJ Rubicons are going to get more rare, so time is running out. May end up being a YOLO situation...

Forget the other issues - you can do them yourself. Only thing worth having them do is main seal. I bet if you called and said fix the main seal and $13.5K for it he would take it. Even at $14K with main seal fixed I think they would do it and you'd be getting a clean Rubi to enjoy for a long time.

So...the guy won't take anything off the Jeep. He also doesn't seem to want to fix the rear main seal either, saying that he doesn't see any oil leak under the Jeep. So it looks like it's not happening...

Now he says that he'll do the rear main seal and sell for the original price, or sell as-is for $13.9k...

Not sure what to tell him...

Just a forwarning, the 6 speed in your possible new Rubicon is the same as the 6 speed in your old JK. Having driven both JK's and TJ's with the 6 speed, I feel like it is much better in the TJ for the gearing. I'm on 33's with the stock 3.73 gearing and it launches just fine

I would tell him $13.9K with the main seal fixed and you'll pick it up today. He wants to sell it, knows there's an issue. Not worth $15K even with the issue fixed.

Ended up not getting it. He wouldn't really budge, and I just wasn't feeling it... The faraway banana Jeep wasn't really tingling my balls or anything. Oh well. Looked at their website just a second ago, and it looks like it's been sold.

Thanks for the responses, guys. Maybe next time it'll work out. Or I'll just end up getting a JK again lol

You'll regret getting a JK. I'm on my third TJ for a reason

It's just a bad time of year - everyone wants a Wrangler now with summer around the corner. Like I said, I bought mine in January right after New Year's and a 10 year old TJ was probably the last thing people were thinking about at that time. I still take a look once and a while at what's out there - haven't seen anything I would even look at these past few weeks.

There was a rubihara next to me that was going for $12K. One owner but 160K miles - I would have jumped on that had I not bought my current Rubi.

I think best luck you'll have is trying to find a Rubi TJ through a large dealership, calling and leaving a refundable deposit. Gives you time to look at it, otherwise they're going fast lately.
