I'd hold out for a six cylinder. Maybe a Sport or Sahara with the D44 rear end.

Newer Jeeps come with either a Dana 35 or a Dana 44 rearend. The 44 is the stronger of the two.

This is why I joined this forum, to learn what to look for in a wrangler. And to get opinions on which one to buy. You guys have already helped me to wait for a six, manual, with the options I want, so thanks. Any help is appreciated.

i have, and have had both engines. i'll never buy another 4 cyl. the 4.0 engine is great. the 4 cyl will run forever, it just leaves a little to be desired, especially after you own/ or drive a 4.0.

You stated it up front with, "I'd prefer a six." Keep the faith and keep looking. You'll find the ONE at the right Price. I looked for six or seven months. Drove a lot of crap and finally found a bone stock pristine princess. Been dropping $$ ever since.

Don't buy something you are not happy with.

Take a look at this thread for axle ID, then crawl under the new jeep to verify what you are getting.
axle identification
Look around while you are down there for possible damage and leaks.
