Opinions welcomed. What do you think??

Ok. I'm about to purchase a Jeep and found a 99 Sahara with hard top, automatic, a/c, 50,000 miles. It has a dented up front right fender. Carfax says it is clear of all issues. The story I got was that the elderly lady that used to own it had a heart attack and ran into the garage. Only the fender is damaged. I'm ok with that part. Other than that it is clean. Minimal rust underneath. Normal stuff nothing major. I engaged the 4X4 in high and low. Works great. The guy is asking $7000. So what do you think? All opinions welcome. Should I offer less? Any thing I should look at in particular?

Well if you can get it for less than of course you should. Id offer something like $6200 and see how it goes. Has pretty good mileage and as long as it looks good underneath (no bent brackets, steering, etc.) then you should be fine. The D44 rear axle is ideal (has a metal drain plug on the diff cover with a hex head) but dont let it be your deal breaker if it doesnt have one. Take it for a drive on the road and get it up to some decent speed to make sure it drives well. Good luck with the sale.

Those are some pretty low miles for a 99, I agree, drive it around and make sure everything is functional, low ball the guy to feel him out, if he is dead set on his price, go elsewhere. If he jumps at the first number you give him, go elsewhere...something is wrong with it that you cant see. Why is he unloading it?

Thanks everyone for the replies. I spoke to the guy today and like you suggested I low balled him. We argued the price a bit then agreed on 6500. I am gonna go pick the truck up this weekend. I am gonna check it out again just to be sure one last time. I will check the rear diff as well for the drain plug. Great advice from all. I will have a crap load of questions on things I can do to it probably next week after I have had it a couple days. Thanks again for the tips.

Believe it or not there are a lot of people out there that think wranglers are neat but don't want to own one, then there are people like us.....
More than once I have had mine, my son's, his girlfriends jeeps in the driveway, that comes to 7, other jeeps have driven by, turned around and pulled in to see whats going on, then others. Kind of funny, looked like a swap meet....

If the sahara is in decent shape I'd go for it, it's almost 10 years old after all.

let me guess up until the old lady had a heart attack she just used it to go to church and to bingo. Just kidding, the story just sounds like a used car salesman's cliche (i couldn't resist)
any wat the jeep sounds pretty solid other wise. just take it for a good test drive.
