Soft Top Arrived ... fast shipping ... took two days from receiving ship notification to arrival, and shipping was free.
Jeep in the driveway, and yeah, that is always what my top looked like when folded down. Never been able to "fan-fold" it and get it all nice and organized looking, always looked like a rat's nest.
Here is the header bar you need to put the top on, and its mounting brackets. I liked the way this fit, and that there was no permanent change to the jeep in case I ever want to remove it and go back to a "factory" soft top.
And here is the bracket and header in the jeep ... not all the way tightened up yet.
Putting the top on. It IS easier with two people to hold and stretch the fabric, but I think I can do it by myself. Seen vids of people installing it with no assistance. I plan to run it most often like this, windows out (and back window folded up and under).
Once I had the top on, it was a bi**h to stretch everything and get plastic tabs into slots. At the last, I could not get the back corners or the tailgate bar in, so I left it like this with the heater blowing for about an hour.
After an hour, the top was warm enough I got the corners in first, then the tailgate bar. All buttoned up and looking pretty good, but it was too dark for a shot.
Will take a good shot today of the finished install. Pretty happy with it so far, driving to work today there was really no flapping or cracking with the windows closed, a little snapping when they were open.
It RAINED on the way into work this morning, for once I was glad to see the rain. Everyone told me that once I had the top on, it would be sunny and clear and perfect "top down" driving weather! The top will stay on for 2 days, then off for Saturday! Woohoo. Here we come Luckenbach.
