Overhauling

I have a 97 TJ with Dana 35, my rear is shot and I want to know the best replacement for a good price. any suggestions or places to look would be greatly appreciated

dana 44 or a ford 8.8 with disc brakes.

neither of them are cheap when all said and done.

Do not spend money on a Dana 35. It's a piece of crap. Get a Dana 44. One out of a 1995 to 2005 will bolt right up. Ford 8.8 is good too, but requires some mods.

^ Joe you mean '97 and up.... But you can get D44's out of Cherokees as well, but need the TJ brakets welded on.

HEY , you leave those XJ and MJ D44's alone, they are hard enough for us XJ owners to find and we don't need no shorty owners scarfing them up and then cutting the mounts off and modifiying them for coils.......

Actually you could even use the C8.25, only a 1/4" less ring gear diameter then the D44...
