I finally did; called the Tag overhead sound vault

Ktot, is that rear/downward-facing speaker any help w the overall sound quality up front or is it mainly just for rear-seated passengers?

It's a shame they don't make that Tag Sound Vault anymore, that thing looks nice!

I've got one in my TJ. The sound quality is...just ok... I'm planning on upgrading the sub and maybe installing an amp in it to get better sound quality. The lock boxes are pretty handy when the hardtop is off, but they rattle like crazy if they're empty. I installed led strips on the top face of mine so when the hard top is on the light bounces off the white ceiling and floods down like indirect lighting. Unfortunately I think they were disco'd by TAG quite a while ago.

I bought this last summer, wanted to use it to mount switches, but it didnt work like i wanted it to. and its really too small to carry anything worth while. my pair of winter gloves barely fits in it. Overall im not impressed, but I did bolt my CB to it, so i got something out of it.

Do you have any pictures of these lights you have? Was thinking of something of the same idea but I want to see what they look like first.

I had the Tuffy overhead console that was in my Jeep when I bought it, it was the first thing I got rid of, if your more than about 5'6" tall be prepared for bleeding and concussions.

Hmm I somehow missed this post. Let me see what I can find. On a side note I've decided to sell this one. I'm doing a custom cage and I'm looking at the Genright speaker setup. Haven't posted it here yet but I'm looking to get $180 for it.

Here's the LEDs against my soft top. It's actually way brighter with the hardtop but that's gone now.

Could you guys please get some close up pictures showing how the consoles are mounted at the front? I'm thinking about building one for my jeep and would love to get some ideas for how to mount it. Thanks.

Built one, about to mount it in the Jeep.

Custom with a lockable gun storage, switch panel and a place to mount a radio. (cb/ham)

I want to get an overhead console; it'd be great to get my CB out of sight and in a spot that would require a bit of effort to steal. Right now mine sits up above the center controls on the dash--which means it's right out in the open and it does take up a bit of space as well.

Yea. CBs not included in that price though. I pulled it out a few months ago to take some measurements for my custom cage. I thought about building the cage around it, but couldn't come up with a design I liked. It's been sitting lonely on my shelf ever since.

ID:	1717698 This bracket is bolted to the console from inside the lockbox and screwed from the outside. The little hook on it grabs the hoop above the windshield.

For the guy asking about the LEDs. Here are the LED strips I used.

Remus I loved the setup you did. A lot of attention to detail. When I read your description I expected something a lot less Jeepworthy (for lack of a better word) Man you did a great job.
T-Jay I liked your indirect lighting solution a lot. It really set it off.
When I installed mine I was only doing a CB mount. I bought a 3"x3/4"x48" aluminum bar with t slots in one side from a company named 8020. To mount it I used a piece of 1/8"x3"x4" flat steel plate. I bolted the plate to each end of the bar on top. I then drilled 1 hole large enough for the forward door surround bolt to go thru on 1 end and used them to hold the bar in place while still being easily removed if necessary. For those interested the bar is made of 6105 T5 alloy aluminum. Now that its installed im hunting 2 boxes that I can attach to it for holding items. With the t-slots running the whole length you can mount pretty much anything to it and at any spot. Heres some pics.

Yea I still have it BUT...

-It's here in Taiwan with me until June when I fly back to New Jersey (Rather not ship it to Tennessee)
-I've been reconsidering selling it. Kinda on the fence
-There's another guy who's been checking in with me from time to time who has first dibs.

Here is my homemade overhead CB holder.
Cheap and easy if you have a small metal melter (welder).
I am getting ready to add a strip of switches along the top where the CB angles down. Hopefully I can get that done in the next week or so.
