overheated

i overheated big time to the point where my jeep died out because my gauge all of a sudden was not working properly. problems im having are

1) have a hard time starting got to crank it more than 5 times rough estimate.
2) rough idle an wont stay on

wanted to know if i should change get a upper valve grind gasket set or just get a new valve cover and head gasket?

You most likely cracked the cylinder head with that much heat! You definitely will need a new head gasket when you remove the head. Make sure to get it checked for straightness and magnafluxed to check for cracks by a machine shop.

so just started it up last night and was sputtering every couple mins but started to get longer apart probaly from the gas thats been sittin in the tank for so long jeep sat for a little over a year so probaly the cause of the sputterin right and also need to replace valve cover gasket will be getting soon but runs pretty good. oh and is it normal for the upper radiator hose to get hard when engine hot?
