P1389 Code

Does anyone know how to fix this code. My Jeep will not crank. it turns over but will not fire. This P1389 code is what I get. It says an Auto shutdon Relay but Autozone doesn't have that switch.
I have a 1997 Wrangler 6 cyl

It's in that black box next to the battery with all the other relays and fuses. If u don't know how to jump a relay, don't try. Wouldn't want u to fry the PCM or burn ur jeep to the ground.

if that relay is no good bust it open and push the contact down and have someone crank it , then see if it starts

Send a message via AIM to CapnDean
you have to clear the code...either that or it will go away after so many cranks of the engine.

Sometimes a crank sensor can cause an ASD relay to go bad. Be weary. Swapping relays is a good idea, easy way to verify one is bad. Just make sure the part number on both are the same.

P1389 Code

Yea I made sure the relays had the same numbers. However the AC works fine with the swapped ASD relay. The code will not reset using my analyzer.

I guess my next move will be the coil and or the CPS. Can i just replace the CPS without messing up the position? It looks easy to replace.

Thnaks

2 11mm or 7/16th bolts on top of the bell housing if I remember correctly. U can get it from to top side if u got gumby arms. Pretty easy job, but that sensor is a little pricey.
