Jerry is getting a "truck"? I saw his post this morning and I am kind of hanging around to see what he gets.

Jerry, I would be very interested to hear what kind of anti-theft set up you are going to install, if any. I've gotten to the point that I'm a bit paranoid to leave mine in a parking lot to go into a store. I've given thought to simply chaining the steering wheel to the roll cage with a heavy duty chain and lock, but would love to hear any ideas you have planned.

As the expectation manager for this site, I'd like to remind everyone that Jerry's been jeepless for over a month now and is picking up the new one today.

That said, he MIGHT post Monday from work (unless he's still out on the trail).

Do you blame him for wanting to take it out and play with it? Its been over a month since he has had the chance and Im sure he wanted to let go of some of the built up fustration!

Not a post you would want to take out of context - for sure.

Well ok miss Smarty Pants, I'll just spill those beans right here and now!

The new Jeep is sitting in the garage, I just got home with it an hour ago it's a 2004 Rubicon and it's pretty well built. Well, I guess it is VERY well built. It sucked my AAA insurance payment dry and then some but...

Anyway, I bought it from Gerald Lee, the co-founder of Savvy Offroad who made me an offer I couldn't turn down. It has all the Savvy upgrades on it, aluminum corners, aluminum bumpers, gas tank skidplate, aluminum/steel rocker guards, and rub rail in the back... all black anodized except for the gas tank skidplate. It also has a Currie 4" suspension, Currie Antirock, Currie HD steering, and a few other trick mods underneath. The Warn Big Hub kit up front with 30 spline alloy front axle shafts, 30 spline Alloy USA axle shafts in the rear, 5x5.5" bolt pattern hubs, Walker Evans forged alloy beadlock wheels, and new Goodyear Kevlar MT/R tires (but no spare). Interior is stock, not sure how I'll get a rollcage into this newer type interior.

It needs some things like a winch, rear spare tire carrier, some kind of an air compresor, etc.. Plus it won't currently lock up its air lockers, it was damaged in a previous life so Gerald is sending me a replacement. It doesn't start on the first attempt so it needs an anti-drainback valve as well.

It only has 67,000 miles on it where my '97 had 183,000 miles on it and I was thinking I was hearing some funny low-end (rod?) noises in the old engine so maybe the theft came just before my engine was about to blow? In many ways I am ahead of where I was before the theft, Jeep-wise, but I lost a ton of extras (tools, spare parts, SWR meter, first aid kit, GPS, etc. that were locked up in large Tuffy security compartments. Some of those items, like spare nuts and bolts, will take a long time to rebuild.

So all in all I came out smelling like a rose. It's a really nice Jeep, has a few minor problems I have to fix, but it drives really well. And that 4-speed automatic it has is a nice change from my previous 3-speed.

So yep, thanks for asking... I'm now back from the night of the living dead and a Jeep owner again. Yayyyyyy!!!

P.S. I made my first mod within 10 minutes of having it home in the garage... the Rubicon hood stickers and the Trail Rated badge are now gone!

Yay! Congratulations Jerry!
I am really glad you are able to get into another Jeep now. It's great to hear that the karma is starting to balance out (And maybe the bad karma is piling up on the tools that stole your old Jeep).

That does look to be a very nicely set up Rubi as well. Very sharp!

Congrats again, I hope you get just as much enjoyment (if not more) out of this one as you did the last!

Sweet!!! Nice Jeep Jerry!

Man, I feel like some hobbit just dropped and evil ring into the fire and that huge cats eye Mordor thing just blinked out. All is right in the Shire now.

It's like Bruce Willis just destroyed an asteroid on a collision course with the earth.

It's like Spock went into the Dilithium crystal containment chamber and saved the Enterprise.

All is right with the world again! A Hollywood miracle ending to a tragic tale.

All kidding aside, I'm really happy for you Jerry.
