Painted bezels chipping

Any advice on paint and prep to help with chipping? I painted mine to match (liked matching better than black) last summer and now that winter is over I am seeing a lot of chipping and the chrome showing through.

Or is this just a rinse/repeat thing every so often? Or is there something to put on to make it as durable as the rest of the front end paint?

Paint is OEM match from automotivetouchup.com

You have to get really aggressive with the sudo chrome. Dull it down really good then use self etching primer before shooting paint.

So it's more of an adhesion from behind the paint than being worn from the front?

Besides working the chrome dull so it sticks, how many coats of paint/clear works best? IIRC, I did 2 paint and 3 clear but I wouldn't put a bet on that guess.
