Very nice, I was wondering what a tan top would look like on a yellow jeep. Black is the only way to go.

The black top looks awesome with the yellow. What type of paint did you use? I hope to paint mine while I have it off this summer - it's in desparate need of some attention.

Yea, they are Cragers. And yes, there is some rust I have been dealing with. Once I can get the 33's I want, I'm going to have the wheels blasted and powder coated before mounting. It is mainly surface rust as far as I can tell for now.
I do have a hitch for now. Once I build a rear bumber, I have a military pintle hitch to put on it.

where are you noticing the surface rust, around the simulated beadlock bolts? do those bolts actually come out? i really like them wheels and i was wondering if i could switch those bolts out with stainless steel bolts. because living in massachusetts, even the air around here is salty.........

hey Adventurous....
use Krylon Fusion paint. it comes in a spray can and is specifically designed for plastic. you can find it almost anywhere. it's bonding characteristics are excellent, and with the semi-rough texture of the hard tops that paint will stick to it like stink on shi....(well you know)....

The bolts come off. I will probably change to stainless this weekend, just haven't gotten around to it. As far as rust, there are several small drail holes around the inside if the rim edge. They rust at these holes and at the holes where the bolts go. I think it would take a long time to affect the integrety of the wheel unchecked, but a lot longer cleaned and repainted once in a while. That's why I decided to have them powder coated when I go to new tires. I also like these because they have a deeper bead surface than regular rims so I would think there is less of a chance of popping the bead when aired down. I'm curious if you could fab a a larger ring to bold to the the rims and actually make them into bead locks???

100 is what I've seen too. I still need a 5th one for my spare. No problem balancing either. If you loosen and re-tighten the bols around the ring any the paint will flake, hence the rust. You just got to watch them. I usually do a once-over when I am working on the brakes or crawling around underneath.

1st thing you would have to do is remove any contaminants(waxes, polishes, oils, etc...). you could use anything from mineral spirits to acetone to wipe it clean. you could probably even use laquer thinner, but try it out first on a small area. it will most likely start to remove the existing finish. but most importantly is to strip it from any sealers that may be on there.
sanding is probably not neccessary, unless you have some peeling going on now. but if it's just faded paint that you want to take care of you're ready to start spraying. if i remember correctly Krylon Fusion is self priming.

Krylon Fusion is the best stuff made. I just washed it real good. Since it already has a dull finish it is ready to go. I took the rear glass off, masked the windows and all the interior areas and went to it. 2 full cans covered the whole top with enough left for the areas prone to chipping like the leading edge and around the doors. I'm very happy with it, you can't tell it was rattle-can, yet!
