Painted the Fender flairs

I was gonna take em off but if I do I got to replace half the bolts since the lock nuts turn with the bolt, so I went to town with the blue painters tape and news paper, got some Krylon black satin spray paint from Wal Mart and made them match the new stock rear bumper
I heard that if the paint comes off the plastic would dry rot and break, so I figured $5 a can was cheaper than new flares and bolts.

heres a pic of what they look like painted with Black satin, the stuff made for plastic matches perfectly shade and texture. Sorry about the pollen, but its that time of year here in Va, at least its black again and not dusted Yellow

It's to late now, but the black plastic "nuts" that hold the flares on need to be held from the back with a pair of pliers or an open end wrench of the right width. They're a PITA as I found out when I went to wider flares.

fine job man. i had to take off a fender flare and the "nuts" on back wanted to just spin then they fell off so when putting the new fare back on i couldnt reuse the existing holes. nothing to screw into. so i had some black self tapping metal roofing screws and i ran those through the new fender into the side of jeep. cant see them and they are twice what was there.

Thanks guys.

03 RUBI, I would have done that but the previous owned of mine replaced the plastic nuts with 5/16th" locknuts and steel bolts. Personally when I can I'm replacing them with SS nuts and bolts with graphic based antisieze in case I ever have to replace one.

Front bumper is next on the list
Then Automotive trunk paint under it. not this new junk they have our now days, I have a case of eth stuff that was made in the 80's (yea they still spray)

Yea, nice job on the fenders! Hey I noticed in the pic, that you have the General Grabbers AT2s. how do you like 'em? I'm thinking about getting them or the Duratracs

So far the Generals haven't let me down, they are only 235/75/15's but they go anywhere except through frame deep mud the AT2 is built the same as the old AT's from the 70's except they don;t sing going down the road.
I like their grip on both dry and wet hard surfaces. Duratracs are probably a good tire too, but I've never really liked Goodyear since I was 16 and had two blow out on my old pickup in one week. If you can find them as small as we need for Jeeps get Mohawks, that is if they are still even making tires, my dad had a set of those on an old 4X4 Dodge farm truck for 4 years driveing dirt roads every day.
