painting coil springs?

has anyone done this?
does it hold up to the contant flexing of the coils?
any special paint used?

I painted a set red once.
Sanded them down, then shot them with Rustoleum.

They held up great.

most of the time they are coated with some kind of latex paint, kinda stretchy.

Rustoleum or that plastic stuff works pretty good, that flexes a bit. I'd like a fast way to prep them myself, sitting there with strips of emory cloth gets old real quick..

run some steel wool over them then hit them with Rustoleum.
