painting stock wheels....

my current rims are in a little less than ideal condition. the paint is falling off and 2 of the 5 center caps are missing. at the moment im bedlining the interior and i keep coming back to the bedliner. however my cousin whos helping me is in live with Plasit-dip nad im sure he'll mention it in a a while. weve already plastied the fenders (which looks amazing!) anyone have any experience with bedlining the stock wheels? if so some pictures would be most helpful!
thanks

Uh huh... those are as stock as you can get.... just coat 'em and call it a day... celebrate with a beer when complete.... Best $15-$20 you can spend on your Jeep for a completely different look.

just kidding, I had a wrangler when I was 16 and now at 31, I have had 4 wranglers and a cherokee with some non jeeps in between...it all started at 16.... paint the wheels its a great easy project just make sure your prep correctly.

By the way, I love the color of yours, that was the color of my second Wrangler and I always got a ton of compliments on it.

If you are unsure about the color then use Plasti Dip as it can be peeled off easily.

From what I read in another thread, it's just some light sanding with some wet/dry sandpaper. I'm using the Rustoleum Bed liner. But I hear both are forgiving and just spray clean, or maybe a little scrub brush. I heard others say that the Plasti-Dip you can peel off. I'm not sure about the Rusty stuff.

I've heard of sticking index cards between the tires and rims is a good way of not painting the tires. How do I do that?

This sounds like a great idea!! I have the stock canyon wheels and am about to put some new tread on them. The rustoleum sounds like a good way to go!!!

Well.. I finished today. I also painted the center caps and I must say I'm impressed with them.
However I'm thinking of making my lugs the same color as the Jeep symbol in the middle. And sharpeing the letters.

If you want to paint them while they're still on the wheel, I saw a trick where you could use a deck of cards and line them around the wheel and spray paint. I painted my Semi Gloss Black - Rustoleum.

Do you have to remove the clear coat prior to painting or can you just scuff it up a bit?

I just scuffed em. I used a sander for most of it, and used my hands for the rest. I probably didn't need the sander but I got lazy...

The prep work. Using the card trick and can't see it but I cleaned the rims with
Acetone then scuffed them up and cleaned the dust off. Then painted.
