Painting the Logo Valance

I want to paint the Jeep Logo on the front valance (right behind the bumper) to make it stand out, but I'm not sure of the best kind of prep, paint or process to ensure that it doesn't chip, flake or peel off. Has anyone done this or have any suggestions?

Wash it good with comet and water before you do to remove any oils/dirt.

etching primer is good to use pretty much use a red scotch bright pad to rough it over a little and spray it with etching primer and wait for it to dry then paint

Painted mine by using what we call a paint stick - it is used to mark metal. Lots of different colors - red, blue, yellow, white, and green are some of the ones I have seen. Worked really well and sure makes the logo stand out.

Go over it with steel wool, wash it really well, let it dry and paint it with Krylon Fusion. I've done mine this way (sans the 1st step) and it looks great.

Thanks guys! I also found a site that sells decals specifically for covering the logo on the valance. I'm trying to figure out what route to take. If I go the decal route it would guarentee that the colors would match the other decals I'm planning to buy from them. But we'll see. Gonna let my options marinate and see which floats to the top! I'll post pics after I make up my mind.

I'd do the decals, less work to undo if you decide to change it. Can you share where you found them? I'd like to see them.

Yeah, I'm leaning toward decals so I can at least see if I really like it! Here's the link:

Hope to order this week so should have some pics by the end of next week!

If I liked stickers, these would be some interesting ones. I may have to think about a couple of the stickers on the display site.

I've never been much of a sticker person either...but what the heck, the price is worth seeing if they look good enough to keep. Just ordered 'em...
