You can powder coat wheels. Plenty of people have had it done. Do a web search and there are a numbers of sites offering wheel powder coating. Powder coat is the bes as it will hold up the best. Plenty of people have also sprayed wheels and they should hold up. I have sprayed an old set of winter wheels on another vehicle and they have been fine for a number of years. Wheel paint is available in most auto parts stores.
powder coating shops will powdercoat anything, however, when it comes to aluminum wheels it can cause the metal to weaken and eventually crack. Cracking would not be good if you are outback wheelin pretty hard
Powder coating is great, but paint is cheap, it will hold up pretty well if you take your time with it, take them down to bare metal, clean the surface very very well before you paint. Duplicolor does make wheel paint.
