The Wrangler's 4x4 system is strictly and purely a part-time 4x4 system. That the part-time 4x4 light came on just means it worked as it is supposed to. If you also noticed a full-time 4x4 location on the dash, that is because the same instrument cluster was also used on the XJ Cherokee which had an optional full-time 4x4 system available at extra cost in addition to its base part-time 4x4 system.

Part-time 4x4 is designed solely for offroad use, full-time 4x4 means it is suitable for use on paved roads.

My 4wd indicator light stopped working for a while - I gave the wiring warness under the dash a wiggle and it started working again - maybe we both had a loose connection.

Good info and thank you, I was just confused because when my T-Case was replaced the mechanic told me the switch on the T-case was "missing" and needed to be bought. It is becoming more and more apparent that this guy screwed me over with 1300 dollars of labor to put in my T-Case and than found more and more "wrong" with the Jeep...
