Passed on a rubi today

Hey all, so as title reads, hit up dealer 45 min away that has 06 rubi with 2" bb far as I see. 77k on clock good body cept one small dent in pass tub corner, same as my 91 had and my 87 has. Aftermarket swing out tire carrier, 5 Dunlop mud rovers 3/4 tread, clean engine bay no sign of leaks. Has poison spyder rocker guards. 4 outta 5 wheels chewed up on bead and belly pan beat up also. Sticker 17995, offered 14k cash, he said don't think we have that much in it, mgr says not even in ballpark, countered w 16k out the door, still no. Jeep bought at auction. Been looking at prices, dealers and individuals from not just Ohio but more Midwest to try to get avg but prices seem kinda all over the board given good condition. Glad I passed now but when it comes to rubis, given there build from factory would one that shows sign of off road use sway u one way or other?

defiantly at that price yes. signs of off road use that a dealer doesn't get cleaned up mean probable abuse. abuse could mean problems, maybe not but could be. the risk is in my opinion to high to gamble over 10k on. I'm not spending half a years pay to get something somebody else has abused. there is a reason it was at the dealer, and at auction before that. I say good move passing on it.

I agree. I paid more than that for my 04 rubi, but I was also getting a stock vehicle with hard and soft top in perfect condition and 25,000 miles basically the previous owner spent the last 8 years breaking it in for me

When I was TJ shopping, very high up on my list was a bone stock Jeep with no PO added mods or parts, and no signs of major off-road use. I didn't want someone else's worn out suspension components from off road use. One of the reasons it took me a couple months to find "the one".

that's why I couldn't pass on this '01 w/ just 6k miles! Everything just added by dealership.

Tjs are new territory for me, always had yjs, but tj will be dd/mildly built to begin with. Will be a 2nd jeep, as I'm in process(slow mind u) of building a 87. Got go ahead from my financing officer to get rid of my cummins before I drop unwanted $$ on a tranny build. Said rubi or Lj would be all I would get rid of truck for, need d44, had enuf woes w/ the d35.

$16k seems high to me for "upgraded" and 77k miles.

I think we all try to look for stock unless we know the previous owners and the Upgrade history. I just bought my '06 rubi with 6300 miles on it.

Good luck on the LJ

I'd sure like to live where y'all live. Jeeps are a gold mine in Ohio, high side yes, y I walked away. Truth be told after the $14k offer failed I knew I was walking away. Bought at auction, I'm guessing they had $10-$11 in it, if that? I'm seeing prices all over the place on rubis and Lis here, Lj local dealer is checking on for me is 06 62k mi auto, int and engine bay looks spotless(insert but.........here). Reg Maint on carfax, $17500. Even searching Cl, cars.com I haven't seen but a handful that weren't priced so cheap u knew it was shady. So 17500 for it if it checks out, worth it? Refuse to buy jl, so 06 or older

I live just north of Cincinnati and I agree wrangler prices are crazy in the midwest. Rust is big factor too in the northern Ohio counties.

I gave low 20's for my rubi, but it is as new basically.

I agree on the JK as well. I'm a 2000-2006 kinda guy. Good luck.

Here is a 2005 Unlimited with 50k miles for $17,900 down by me.

Jeep : Wrangler Unlimited Sp in Jeep | eBay Motors

And an '05 rubi with 81k for $15,900 at a dealer in Lima:

The gm dealership in my town, williamstown, ky (about 45 mins south of cincy) they've got an 04 LJ, a 05 Rubi, and a 06 LJ Rubi. Might be worth checkin out if ya don't mind the drive.

17795 for a 6 year old wrangler! That seems really high.

What year Cummins? I sold mine a few months ago to buy my Jeep. Not a day goes by that I don't miss it though. The power, sound and security you feel in them is second to none.
Even my 5 year old misses Daddy's big, dumb truck. My fault though, I bought the Jeep after the topless season, so now we have to wait until spring to fully enjoy cruises.

02 auto, tc is not locking up and will need MORE front end work before long. If I keep it it will be built and to drop $5-7k on tranny alone, I'd rather push it along and grab a 2nd jeep. Problem is jeeps pull high dollar here, looked at several 01-04 saharas and whether 20k or 200k dealer or ind u will pay $8-11k. Just want a good dependable dd rig that's quick to be pd off. Not weary of high mileage, weary of under maintained
