Passenger door won't open. WTF?

Exterior handle and interior lever does nothing. The door lock/unlock button moved but doesn't really click into either locked or unlocked position. Right now door is stuck closed.

What's going on here? What broke? Door handle? How do I get the interior panel off with the door closed?

Sounds like the plastic clips that hold the rods that release the lock broke. Common problem. When mine broke I used a twist tie to hold them in place. Your biggest challenge is getting the door open to remove the interior door panel.

Pickup a new latch loop (part that bolts to the tub) take a Sawszall climb in the back seat and wack the old loop to get the door open. It's a bitch trying to work on the door when it's closed. Worked for me.

Remove the seat.
Hopefully, that will give you enough access to the screws / clips that hold the door panel in place.

The plastic piece that keeps the push rod in place might not be broken.
It might have simply came off of the rod.
In either case, those plastic pieces are not expensive.

I've read some threads indicating that some of the linkage brackets wear and can leave the door like yours . Sometimes people have found that if they push hard on the interior door lock switch, while pulling on the inside door latch handle, they can get the door to open. It's worth a shot if you haven't tried that.
