Pepboys ripoff!

I haven't been online in a long time. Too busy at work and with my daughter, so sorry guys.

My wife has had my Jeep, I taught her how to drive it and now I take her car or my bike to work. Well today she went out to go to the store, (I was at work with her car) and the battery was dead. She called her mom over and they jumped it. The windshield wipers and lights came on. The baby was having fun I guess.

She took the Jeep to Pepboys to get the battery charged. When she got there, she shut it off and it fired up again with no problem. But for fun she decided to get the battery charged anyway. It was free and they would check out everything.

She got a call to pick it up. They told her the batter couldn't be charged and that it was ruined, (and yet it took the charge driving there...) they told her the filter needed to be replaced, (I just serviced it) they said I had faulty wiring and the turn signal was inoperable, (it was a loose wire, it's fixed now) and they said the thermostat needed to be replaced (it has 20k on it, and again just serviced).

They were so nice they could fix everything for a mere $290... My wife kindly said no, and called me about it. Needless to say we won't go back. My wife isn't stupid when it comes to cars, but I guess they thought they could get over on her. Oh well... I got everything checked for free, and they spent an hour working for nothing.

another case of someone looking to make a buck off of someone else who they perceive is too naive to know better - glad to hear your wife didn't put up with it and left..not sure mine would have

That's what happens at those places. They're good for cleaning products and that's about it...
