Phantom rattling noise

Hello all,
I was wondering if any of you could direct me to a good site on taking your dash apart on a 2005 TJ. I have a vibrating/rattling noise coming from what seems to be behind the glove box area. I pulled the glove box out, pulled the middle dash console off, pulled off top vent cover and pulled out the radio and still can not track down the noise. Time to get serious and really pull this thing apart. I know its a jeep and they make noise but this is driving me crazy. Coincidentally, the noise will usually stop when I shift into neutral. Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hello,

I have the same problem. It is sort of a clattering noise emanating from the dash. Strange that it should stop when you shift into neutral. The local dealership worked on the transmission of this Rubicon 6 times before they and I thought they had repaired the problems they introduced. The original problem was the common popping out of reverse when backing. Some vent duct work is attached to the firewall and runs down by the transmission. I have my fingers crossed that the noise is not being generated in the transmission and being conducted by the duct work. The noise only occurs when you are doing 55+ mph and stops when you drop under.
