It's not a C and D thing... It's a C and E thing. I wouldn't worry about it so much if it were between C and D, but most of the 265/75's are E's.

I'm spending almost $1500 on my OME Ultimate kit from DPG. I don't want to ruin the ride with E tires if C's would ride a lot better. I drive BMW's and like a firm ride, so I don't think the E's would bother me that bad, but then I read comments like the one by kjeeper10 and I get worried.

I don't want to make a $1k mistake on tires.

Why limit yourself to 265's? Why not a 285?

Everyday I say "I'm going to get use to these" I just can't. I have to get rid of these E's soon. I spent $1000 on the 4 the spare is the old MT'R that I got along with the moabs. I guess it's not going to be a huge loss cause I'm sure somebody with a
3 ton truck will love them, I'll try to get at least $500 on CL 

I don't want to stray too far from the stock look, so I prefer the look of the 265. However, I haven't ruled out the 285's. I have found a couple of Load D tires in 285.

I don't use the Jeep as my DD. Actually, I don't even have a top for it right now. So I may just say screw it and get the look I want and live with the ride.

I still run stock MTR's on my Rubi, and agree about the terrible ride qualities. Especially on Michigan roads. I still have plenty of tread left, but I wonder what my choices will be when replacements are needed.

I'm interested in 33 x 10.5, as I prefer the " pizza cutter" look. Also the MTR's are terrible on snow covered roads, due to lack of siping.

I agree these tires in load E on our jeep are crap but I actually found them to be great in the snow.

I hated the org. MTRs as well, so much that I sold them off my jeep when they only had 5K on them. I wouldn't blame it all on the E range though. The MTR was just an all around crappy tire from the beginning. Perfect for playing in the rocks out on the left coast but pretty much worthless anywhere else in the country. Horrible in mud, snow or even a snow covered road. I did find that they went VERY well in deep untouched snow
I wouldn't lump all "E" range tires to be the same as the MTR. If you start checking reviews of other tires that only come in range E. Like the Toyo Open County MT. Is this true? I mean Jerry swears by his MTRS and they are C's I believe.

Because Jerry lives in the area that is perfect for the MTR. West coast, lots of rocks. In that world I would gree with Jerry, as they are one of the best made tires for playing in rocks.

He has replied to my concerns on this tire. The only people that r complaining are the ones who have load E, now I'm talking DD also and they like them. I'm sure compared to other E tires they probably are the worst being the fact their built more for offroad, butt... Then again MT stands for "multi terrain" if that includes pavement, I dunno, anybody's guess???

True, the guy I bought my moabs off of has them on his newer rubicon, only 30 thousand miles and they are toast.

Your correct, I was wrong on that. I've seen alot of interpretations of "mtr" and that's what stuck. I just know it's not "mud

I know many here in the midwest that ran the C range 33x12.5 MTR. They only bought them one time. Because for this area the MTR is a horrible choice for a DD/ part time wheeler. It's not just the E range of the MTR that is bad in the mud, snow and snow covered roads, it all of the ranges. The E range just let you get a rough ride with it.

I am still running the original MTR's that came on my rubi. I have a total of 6 of them and i rotate them every 5k. (60K total miles on Jeep). BUT for me I have to run with 29 psi or the ride is crappy. I had the GY tire shop tell me that if I don't run 35 psi then it would void my warranty. BULLSHIT! I proceeded to go get some chalk and PROVE that my tires only need 29 psi. At 35psi only about 2/3 of the tire had contact with the ground. So for those of you "Stuck" with MTR's go find a big piece of chalk and a nice flat area of asphalt. Chalk up a line across the face of the tread about 2 inches wide on all 4 tires. slowly move your Jeep very straight and look to see where the chalk is wearing off. Adjust tire pressure until the chalk wears evenly. Record results for each tire and redo as needed. BTW. I just checked my tread depth and there is 5/16 left.

Oh and the only thing I have found they work great in, is fresh snow and rocky loose shale roads.

We found the same exact results around here. On problem with the loose shale roads was how many rocks would get stuck in the tire then kick up later into wheel well with a big THUD. Several of the guys were convinced that the MTR stood for May Throw Rocks

Did the chalk test and I'm running 28-29 psi, still crappy. I just don't understand, I keep reading people say that this is a quite(r) tire??? Mine r the stock 245/75/16 and compared to my friends bronco thats running 35's, their comparable. I don't know his brand, I think their BF's def. Mudders. Ehh who cares I'm just going to sell these and try something else

Try a set of Goodyear Duratrac 285 x 75 x 16 and run them at 26 PSI on a TJ.

Load range E, but have 3 ply side walls. I have only used them on the rocks in AZ and Moab, but have been very pleased. Will be headed East this summer, so will see about some mud. They also have the "Snow Flake" rating for those of you poor folks that drive in the white stuff. Used to live in NH, but I'm done with cold weather....

These replaced a set of BFG ATs of the same size that I got 55 thousand miles out of. Still had good tread, but on the rocks they were getting a little thin.

So far, I'm very happy with the Duratracs.

Thanks Brad! I like the look of the 265/75 and the 285/75. I'm leaning toward the 265 Duratracs as they are Load C.

If you have any pics... please post them. I don't think I have seen the 285 Duratracs, it would be great to see how they look.

If you are going to wheel it in anything with rocks or sharp sticks, you might want to look at a tire that has a 3 ply sidewall. A 2 ply sidewall is very thin for a Jeep that is going to play off road.

My wheeling will be very limited and very mild. No rocks, but sticks may be a concern.

Not Moab wheels but close. I'm running with 265/75R16 GY Duratracs on 16" Mamba MR1 rims with a machine finish and black accents. I had an Old Man Emu 2 1/2" lift installed to accommodate the bigger tires. I could not be happier.

That looks great! I just ordered my OME lift, should be here by the end of the month. I can't wait!!!
