Pics or help on rear seat hardware please!!

Well I have been redoing my 1st jeep and know nothing about it, I bought it without a rear seat, but the mounting hardware is mounted to the jeep body, I recently purchased a rear seat off craigslist thinking I was getting everything I needed to just out it in, and in a recent search watching a video on monstaliner they removed there rear seat and low and behold it seems there is a bunch of brackets and stuff that is suppose to be mounted to the seat itself!!!!! All my seat has on it is 4 steel Ross 2 on the back and 2 on the front. Am I missing stuff? I cannot find any pics of what they are suppose to look like, also if I am missing everyhing I need to mount my seat where can I get the stuff that will work on the factory seat I just purchased, hope someone can help me out with this, thanks......

Not sure when they changed the mounting hardware but, mine is a 99

Front bracket

Rear bracket

Front pins in seat

Rear latch

I can get some pics of it installed later when I clear all my tools out...

there was a guy on the austin craigslist who was selling a set of the mounting hardware- brackets, bolts, etc. You might look there and see if his parts are still listed. It was under the auto parts section.

Send a message via Yahoo to ChaddG
looks like you got it all, the front pins slide in, one side then the other, set the seat down and fold it up. it clips into the latch.

Wwch99tj. Yup that's what my seat has on it is just those front pins and the rear bracket like your seat has on it,, so with those attachments that seat I bought should just go right in the brackets that are mounted to my run then right?? That video I watched on his wrangler he had a complete different setup on his. I have not even tried to mount my seat in there yet.

The metal rod with the groove slides in the brackets on the tub.
(I have no idea what the second rod is for)

Once you have both sides in the mounting holes, you should have these clips which fit in the grooves in the metal rod to stop the seat accidently falling out.

What year is your Jeep. The rear seat and brackets where re-designed at some point.

I will try to get out and get some pics of my 04 seat and bracket. Looks nothing like the pics posted.

Could be you have a newer TJ, and bought an older seat.

The clips mentioned by wesboy are not a show stopper though just FYI. Although I went out and got me some as well my Jeep did not have them when I first got it.

Yes, I agree. I have an '06 and my rear seat is totally different. The handle in the back of the rear seat is to fold it forward. The release bar to remove the seat stretches accross to both front locks and is underneath the seat when folded up.

Are the mounting brackets on the body mounted to the sides, like the pics posted, or are they mounted to the floor? My '06 all the rear seat mounting brackets are on the floor not on the sides like in the other posters pics.

Ok looks like I'm missing the clips that keep it from coming out, maybe a dealer will have those, and yes my brackets are mounted to the tub just like the top picture. It is a 2001

Here's some pics of me imstalling mine

I first slide the pin through one of the brackets all the way

Then align the opposite side

Then flip the seat down

Fold the back up until latched

I don't have the retaining clips and have never had a problem...

The second rod stop it from falling all the way forward. If you look at your bracket you will see a groove where the rod sits when the seat is folded up.

Mine didn't come with the clips.... didn't even know they were supposed to be there but the seat tumbles and works fine without them.

Like Big Sarge said in his post - the clips are not a deal breaker.
I posted the pic for anyone who has their clips missing and wants to know what to look for to replace them. A similar size R-clip would work too.
