pinion seal where to buy

My front pinion seal is leaking in my dana 30, where is the best place to get a new ( good quality ) seal. I just happen to have a free afternoon tomorrow so this is unplanned. I don't have time to order one so my choices are , Advance auto , autozone, pep boys or napa. Just don't want to get a shitty seal and have to do it twice. Thanks in advance for any info.

I got mine at NAPA. I get most of my maintenance and repair parts there. AAA membership gets you a percentage off (something like 10% I think).

Dealer for about $12. Funny enough the dealer in my town always has them in stock.

But Timken makes good seals.

Same here, got my seal at Napa. 3 years now no leaks. It has been awhile, but I think I got a seal at Auto Zone first, and it leaked. Then went to Napa and the seal was much better made.

wow I'm finding a wide range of prices, napa's website says $40. that seams really high to me, dealer is closed today but I found the original spicer seal for $5 at national drivetrain.com. I don't want to do it twice but I don't want to pay $40 for a $5-10 seal either.

Be wary that some seals are more easily damaged during the seating process so I wouldn't go for the cheapest. I'm a big fan of Chicago Rawhide's seals but they were bought out by SKF so it's not always easy to figure out which of SKF's are the old CR seals... but a good parts counter guy can sometimes find the CR seals in SKF's catalog.

I guess the bottom line is just go for a better quality seal, cheap seals are just more likely to leak after installation since they are more easily damaged during the not always straight-forward seating process.

Ok called my local dealer and was suprised to find out that they are open till 5 today in the parts dept. They had the seal in stock for $22 so i went and picked one up. It feels heavy for a seal, it says mopar on the bag but if its oem i would think its really the dana/spicer seal that came in the axle to start with. Thanks for all the info guy's.
