pitman arm

Removed dropped pitman arm today to install oem arm. The hole of the oem arm is smaller than the dropped arm and it will not fit on the steering box shaft. WTF??

Well if you are sure you have the factory steering box, I'd say you got the wrong arm.

Just cause the box has the right number doesn't mean what's inside is right.
Or lazy parts person grabbed the wrong one.

Jeep uses the same arm 97-06.

And it has a bigger hole on one side then the other, you are installing it the right way, correct? Don't ask.......

Ya the hole on the oem is about 1/8" smaller than the dropped arm. Guess I'll call 4WD Parts.

Have em pull one from stock, and measure the holes. See how they compare.
Sounds like they pulled a boo boo.

Same arm. From what I've read on it, it's pretty much the same from the CJ's to YJ's to TJ's. Only difference is the drop. Actually it even fits the Saginaw box on an S-10.

So why does the new oem arm have a smaller hole than the dropped one I'm taking off?

Does it have a Jeep steering box? Popular swap item, to install a stronger box.
Many have installed a Dodge Durango box as it's beefier.

Could be what you got.
