Plastic front bumber ends...

I am new to the jeep world and my buddy was telling me that I should take the plastic end of the front bumber of my 2000 TJ off... He said all "real" jeep owners do this... Is he blowing smoke or do most jeep owners do this??... I have seen pics of the TJ without the plastic ends and I do think it looks better but just wanted to ask..

Thanks!

matter of preference. Personally I like my aftermarket bumper better than stock (obviously or wouldnt have bought it). I think the stock ones look incomplete without the ends personally though, so I would leave them on. If he/your worried about breaking them while offroading or what not, they can be removed for that.

They are referred to as "milk jugs" by most jeepers.

The only jugs you need in your jeep should go in the passenger seat.

Sorry ladies, --- or the driver's seat!

I took mine off - even if they were on, I doubt they would do much to protect anything.

My point of view.... Real "Jeep owners" don't tell other jeep owners what real jeep owners do..... Do what makes you happy and enjoy it!

I do not think they look good, so I removed mine front and back.

They look much better off, and believe me they provide zero protection to your tub. If anything they only prevent you from bashing your knee on the sharp corner of the jug-less bumper. My driver side jug came off via low speed trail incident, which led me to take off the other. After you get those off, pop off the bumper and remove the solid rubber blocks on the front of the bumper. When you're all done, the finished product almost looks after-market...

I have my front ones off but my back ones on... I tried taking my back ones off but the screws were all rusted and I didn't know how to get them out so I left those on... lol

+1 - and let me add - Real Jeep owners don't give a crap about what other people think anyways.

I took mine off and installed end caps I got from the dealer for a few bucks. I think it looks a lot better than the jugs.

I like to abuse my plastic by knocking over those plastic barrels you see at construction sites with them as I drive by. They're still on though. I'll beat 'em till they break.

Eh...It's just personal preference.
Don't buy into that kind of garbage.
If you don't want your milk jugs,
RIP THE DAMN THINGS OFF,
and send 'em to me.

Guess I'm a "fake" Jeep owner...lol
