Please dont Shoot Me.

I have a 02 TJ with Stock 3.73 Gears with the 30/35 Combo. 4.0, 5 Speed. I have been running 33's for about 7,000 miles. I have got a 8.8 with 4.10 gears waiting to be installed, just saving for a Lunch box locker for it, and Brackets. I also have a set of Dana 30 4.10's for the Front. I feel I would have liked the 33's with 4.10.

BUT now I went up to 35's and I have the stuff for the 4.10's. my question is would it be worth it to gear up to 4.56? or just install a 4:1 transfer case reduction and leave the 4.10's.

With 35's and 3.73 Gears now it is livable, just not Optimal, 4.10's and 35's Should be about the same as 3.73's and 4.10.

What would your Options be?

1. Stick with the 4.10's and Add a 4:1 Transfer case reduction,
2. Upgrade to the 4.56 gears with no reduction?
3. Stick with the 4.10's with no transfer case reduction?

This is a daily driver/ WW. Most driving is around town and Some Highway. I am Leaning more to living with the 4.10's then Later Doing the 4.56.

Upgrade to 4.88

98 TJ sport 4.0L I6 356,000 miles.
No Engine, axle, tranny, or t-case rebuilds.

I run 4.10 and 33's and am very happy. I have driven a Jeep on 35s with 4.56 and it was real good. I have read that 4.10 and 35 work ok but you will probably want toup it to 4.56 or 4.88. If most of your driving (like mine) is interstate for long distance you might want to look at 4.56 instead of 4.88.
