Hello all, I have a '97 2.5L with 5 speed and was set on getting a 5.3L with t-56 mated together, but after doing research I may go the auto trans route. I have been looking for a couple days for several hours each day and cant find a thread to address this. Still pretty new and not opposed to links to others that may have done this already.
I have a found a couple of dropouts of newer ('09+ less than 60K miles) Chevy's that include the 5.3L, 6L80E, NQH transfer case, engine computer, transfer case computer and petal assembly. I can get adapters from Novak for the gauges and what not. This will be cheaper for me than finding a finding pieces separate and rebuilding them. If I rebuild the block itself I will probably get the cylinder walls re-machined, balanced and blueprinted.
Does any one know if/how I will be able to get the "manual" (not sure what its called but where you can shift through the gears yourself with the +,-)option these transmissions have to work?
What fitment/functionality complications might I run into going this route other than the drive shaft and maybe CV to U-joint difference? New center console? Does the shifter have to be mounted on the steering wheel?
