Pocket Flares?????

I am needing new fender flares. As you can tell, these just do not give me the mud and especially rock protection I need. My near flawless paint got two big chips on the hood this past weekend from rocks being thrown up. My wife was none too pleased with the mud being thrown in the cab either.
Anyway, my plan is 7" flares (or 6", what do you think?), but I am undecided on smooth or the pocket style. What is anyone's opinion on the pocket style flares????

I think they look good. I have them sitting in a box here at the house waiting til I get the lift and tires. I think they look way better than the 7" regular flares.

I've got the 6" pockets on mine with 33 x 12.5 x 15 and the tire extends about a half inch beyond the flare. I like the looks of them and they keep most of the mud in check.

Note, if you wheel where your fenders are going encounter objects, the Pocket Flares (Bushwhacker or knock offs) will not hold up. They are hard ABS and crack fairly easy. The flat fenders look better and are flexable.

x2. I've got the flat flares and they do give a little more wheel clearance at the flares. I almost think I need to go bigger on tires!

Thanks, I like the look of the pockets, but just haven't decided yet. I will only offroad (light trails, no rock crawling or anything) about once or twice a month at best due to work schedules, so I don't think I could do enough damage to really mess em up and I dont like the look of the flats as much.
