Poison Spyder Hood Louver

So any complaints, opinions, pics of the Poison Spyder hood louver? Also since I live in N Idaho any issues with snow on it then melting?

One of the only reasons I am looking is I have the paint chipping on that part of the hood and it would be an easier fix then getting a whole new paint job...

thanks!

I don't have louvers but people that do say there are no issues. If you have to redo that part of the hood anyway might as well do it!

Does your '99 have 2 windshield washer nozzles on the hood?

Pretty sure Poison Spyder only caters for the later models with 1 windshield washer nozzle.

That's one of the reasons I went with Hyline Offroad instead.

Mine has two nozzles, PSC started making them for the early models a few months ago.

Yeah it has the two and as mentioned above there is a model. thanks for the info! Did you install yourself? If so how was it cutting the hood up?

Hows the wether been there in CO? I lived in Lakewood for 8 years and just relocated up north a year ago.

Poison spyder makes it for both 1 and 2 washer spray nozzles.

I have one for mine. Just finished cutting the holes in the hood. Still have to drill the holes to bolt it down.

I bought the one for my 2001 with two sprayers. I thought about swapping to a single sprayer so I could get the other louver. I actually prefer the newer one that only has the spider cut out, vs the "Poison Spyder Customs" cut out on mine.

I will be heading to ACE Hardware later to replace 12 of the bolts that were included. 20 of them have probably snapped, but they include extra. I have 12 that need to be replaced.

I am loving the look, but between the stick-on template being a disaster to remove, and half of the hardware snapping, I am a little frustrated with it.

Be sure to use a little grease on the bolts or the threads will gull being stainless.

FYI the template is not supposed to be stuck on. Some of them get printed on sticker material because our vendor doesn't always have large format plain paper. But you're not supposed to actually apply it like a sticker. Just a couple pieces of tape at the corners is fine. Also, we've recently switched to course thread fasteners hoping that will alleviate some of the stripping.

Haven't made it to ACE yet, but I will be looking for course thread to replace them with.
These are getting messed up with the nut barely halfway up the bolt. The heads of the Allen bolts are stipping with very little force.

I do love the look though!!

I bought one a few months back and installed on my 06, directions were good and template made it real easy to do by myself. I did have two of the bolts strip out about half way up but PS did send extras so it was no biggie. I think for the price its a great looking and functional upgrade.

I'd be happy to install one if somebody wanted to send me one! Though my wife will not like me cutting holes in a freshly painted hood! LOL

No worries....you can't see the holes when the louver is bolted on!

My wife asked....did you have to cut a hole in the hood for that? .
I said no....I had to cut 4 holes. haha
I did tell her that by the time I install the hood pins and hi-line the hood, this won't look like anything.

Thanks. It only comes two ways (atleast when I bought mine), bare aluminum (which is what mine is) or $30 extra to have them powder coat it black.

Louvers

Had my Poison louvers for year/half. Are a great addition, you can see the heat waves escaping the engine bay. Been in snow, rain, 100+ temps, and all is good. It's a plus, plus mod.

How did THAT comment go over with Mrs. TxST8TJ? Bet you got the glare. LOL

But knowing what surprise you had for her, I'm sure she let it slide...

after saying something that the wife instantly disapproves of. I refused to look over and acknowledge "the look"

her: I know your not looking but you can feel it cant you..
me: yeah... its kinda warm actually
her: uuh huh
me: its kinda nice, I've been outside all day and am cold
