Polk Dash Speakers?

I have seen on here where alot of you went with the polk dash speakers, Im not sure which ones they were though. I assume they are these:

POLK AUDIO DB461P (sqare 4x6 plate style)- Can you tell me if they were a direct fit replacement or were modifications needed to make them fit? I have a 2004 TJ and want a replacement for the dash speakers without making mods or buying a mounting plate if I can.

For those of you that used those speakers, do you like them?
Thanks.

The DB series is alright. And with the lack of cab in a wrangler it is probably an alright option. Any aftermarket 4x6 plate speaker will not just bolt up to your dash. You need mounting brackets.

So... you could step up to the DB 521s and get a set of inexpensive plates. You will get more sound out of the 5.25 coax.
DB521 = $65 shipped.

POLK AUDIO DB521 - 5.25-INCH COAXIAL SPEAKERS (PAIR, SI - eBay (item 130412669190 end time Aug-20-10 11:04:43 PDT)

And the brackets = $18 shipped.

5¼" Front Speaker Brackets for 1997+ Jeep Wrangler TJ - eBay (item 310218809208 end time Sep-05-10 05:33:53 PDT)

And toss the matching 6.5s in the sound bar.

DB 651 $60 bucks shipped.
Polk Audio db651 6.5" Coaxial Marine Grade Speakers - eBay (item 330456462709 end time Aug-29-10 10:51:55 PDT)

Total is under $150 for a speaker upgrade.

I used to really like the Polk Speakers, I think they have gone down hill sound wise. You may want to check out Infinity speakers, to me they have a better sound and are about the same price wise.

Funny. My opinion is completely opposite of yours.
