*Pondering this 1997*

It has a bunch of miles but is generally clean all the way around. It was probably towed behind at some point in it's life. But all in all, nice.

Interior is ultra clean-no rips, nice stereo and even has sound proofing on the floor (like a duramat). Has 4.0 with working a/c and hardtop.

Everything works fine. All fluids changed, clutch is great, transfer case works, new water pump 6,000 miles ago. No leaks at all.

Has Ram steelies on it. Which I am diggin.

My plan is to have it sit in my garage and drive around on the weekends. Will not be a daily driver.

Hard to pass up for only.....$4. What do you think?

Oh yeah. The guy who owns it is friend of mine, who happens to like to restore cars. But he is a Ford guy, not a Jeep guy.

Well I wish I had friends that knew a lot about cars and would still sell me a decent TJ for $4. Why even pay anything???

Hmm I may just be missing the sarcasm... Are we talking $4k or literally $4.00

Looks and sounds like a steal to me. Hard to find older TJ's in as good of shape as that one is.

Just from research, both the 2.5 and 4.0 seem to be pretty bullet proof. Worse case scenario you spend another 1-4k over the next few years replacing gaskets, seals, bushings, transmission, clutch, engine. If so at the end you will have a jeep that will last a while, gained some knowledge, and had some fun working on it.

I would buy that in a heartbeat. Sometimes it's hard to find TJ's that will even move under their own power for $4,000

Buy this. If not, I will find, and my dad will buy it.

In all seriousness buy it before someone else does.

It's mine.

Discovered a little rust spot on the body back passenger side-pan and frame all check out good with no problems. Could probably repair that and slap diamond plate over.

No runs, no drips no errors...so no leaks.

A/C blows cold-good for Phoenix.

A little Synchromesh first to second on a fast shift, but at moderate pace, no problem.

The tire/wheel combo make the tires rub a bit when turning hard, not an issue for me because I won't be tearing it up on difficult trails. I dig the steel wheels anyways.

It's no garage queen, but that is not why I am buying it.

WTH. For this price why not.

Wranglers tend to bottom out at 3k or so... and that's for ones that have been beat to death. I've seen non-running wranglers for over 2k.... admitted some fun pieces, but still....

It's worth it and more.

$4K for a 4.0 with hard top and full doors is a great price. I paid $5K for mine a few years ago and at that price you have to move quick or it will be gone FAST. I had to move quick a couple weeks ago when the girl friend came home and her co worker was selling a running 97 SE 4 banger for $500.00 You don't find cheap...long. BUY IT!!!!

Yeah, it's a winner. I bought it. Picking it up Monday. It's not for sale publicly, so all good there.

I actually prefer the hard top, it looks cool. See, here in Phoenix, we need a/c, hard top is best for summer, soft top best for winter. Just the opposite of you guys on the east coast.

I loved my '97 (stolen) I bought brand-new and wish I still had it. It was certainly easier to work on in many ways than my '04 is. Yep definitely go for it.

Well, here it is all cleaned up and detailed.

I'm not going to do anything to it like modding it out and stuff, no need to. It's just cool.

Ran the a/c during a little scoot today. Getting hot in Phoenix and it did a pretty good job. So I assume out on a decent stretch of road, improved or dirt, it'd keep you cool enough here.

Has little rust under the back passenger tail light. Pulled all the interior carpets and no problems.
