Popular upgrades! For a 97' wrangler

Hey guys, I am looking for some upgrades for my 97' wrangler. What are some popular upgrades? Or accessories?

Can anyone tell me about cold air intakes, and how much I should spend on one? I know that they increase power and torque and mabey your MPG.. Is it worth it?

Most people here don't think it's worth it. Here is a great comparison article that I read a while back: Jeep TJ Wrangler - Intake Shootout - Jp Magazine

I would not waste my $$$ on any kind of air intake, cold air intake, etc. And none (!) help mpg in the least. That is strictly marketing hype. The Wrangler TJ, as opposed to many cars, does not have a restrictive air intake and does not benefit from air intake upgrades like some cars can. Put that $$$ elsewhere.
When you have a choice, buy American.

It depends on what you do with you Tj. Do you offroad it? Do you daily drive it
? Do you drive on the snow? the mud? rocks? curbs? What do you want to do to it? the n we can help you really easily and specifically.
For example on my 97 I have a 4" suspension lift, 2" Body lift and 35" Tires. In addition I have quick disconnects, a short throw shifter, two amps,. a sub and 4 extra speakers. Two custom bumpers, a winch, a tow hitch, and custom rocker panel guards. Then driving lights, chrome accessories, seat coovers, etc. etc.

Like the others have said, the intake isn't worth it.

However, there are a lot of things you can do to it...
If you plan on keeping it at stock height, you could put a nice set of 31" tires on it, which would change the look and ability a good bit.

If you want it to sound a little more throaty, you could get a "cat back" kit for it and replace the muffler and piping from the cat back.

Then there are a ton of body type mods you could do - side bars / rockrails, protective armor, extra lighting (windshield mount etc)...

If you are planning on keeping it stock height and will be wheeling with it, I would definitely suggest some plating for the bottom of it, like a nice oil pan skid.

basically, there are a TON of mods you could do, but with a little more info on how you are going to use it, they can be narrowed down.

I love my 97

31s will be just fine with a 4cyl. I have a 4 cyl with 33s. No problems at all.

nothing will increase the power really. A high flow cat and a cat back exhaust may help your high end horsepower, but it will hurt your low end torque. Besides that the best way to get more power is to keep it in lower gears and higher revs. Or trade for a 6cyl. If you are this worried about power I wouldn't recommend bigger tires, they will only make your pickup slower.
