por 15 + herculiner

this may seem excessive, but can herculiner be applied over por 15? i want to line my tub and would like to use por 15 as a base coat because i believe it can be applied right onto the paint, and then apply the herculiner over that. has anyone ever por 15'd their tub? will herculiner bond to por 15?

as far as i know it can't because of the chemical make up of herculiner it needs a straight metal for it to stick then after that it can stick to its self but i don't think it will stick to por 15. i was going to do the same thing but acouple of people said it wouldn't work so i never did try it. if i were you go to a local paint or body shop and ask or call eather por 15 company or herculiner they might know.

i would but i dont think por 15 has any texture to it, i would like to have a nice skid-proof surface

its not like most types of paint, it isn't as smooth as regular paint is. it has no "texture" but thing don't slide around too much, its mostly small light weight stuff that will move around when driving around.

To be honest I dont see the point of using both. If you prepare the surface properly then Herculiner is absolutley all you need. And if your really worried, then throw an extra coat or two on and you'll be set for sure. I use just 2 coats (per the recommendations of Herculiner) on my tub in my current TJ and my old ZJ before I got rid of it and both held up extremely well. No problems with chips, gouges, rust, nothing. If you want texture then just use herculiner, thats what it was made for anyway. If it didnt do its job they probably wouldnt sell a whole lot of it. My 2 cents.

i have never used the herculiner, i have heard good things. the thing that makes my happy about the por15 is that on my cj i lined the tub, frame rails, and under body. i practically turned my front fender of my cj inside-out and the por15 didn't chip crack or show any sign of damage.
