Possible Purchase??

Hi all-

Was wondering if you wouldn't mind taking a look at this listing. 2004 automatic Jeep. Price seems a little too good to be true and I worry that the ad doesn't show pictures of the engine. I also noted some rust on the passenger floor board. Would love to know your thoughts...thanks!

Looks like someone spit shined the mess out of a moderately ragged out ride. The spray job on the frame is concerning to me. I would love to see pics of undercarriage and under the hood. 5 bucks says the frame had crazy surface rust or worse. I would definitely poke and prod that frame.

Price seems ok, considering the miles. I only have 144k on my 97. As far as the floorboard, if you get it, bedline that right away to prevent more rusting. If your concerned about the motor, go check it out in person and test drive it.

It's missing the carpet and has a lot of miles. My 04 just hit 75k for comparison.

Agreed, rust on the frame is the worst spot to have it, check undercarriage really good

Yeah that price seems really low! I'm from Springfield and I know what jeeps go for around here and that price for sure raises an eyebrow. Might be a solid rig but like stated above do some frame pokin!

What's your price range? Theres some nice LJ's down here that I wish we're around when I bought mine...

I paid 8500 for an 02 with less miles(110k) about 2 months ago. Needed about $1000 worth of work(clutch, axle seals, pinion seals), but had brand new(almost) BFG AT's.

My frame has some surface rust, but is still solid. I have my carpet out currently for spraying the tub with bedliner. I have some rust and minor corrosion I need to take a wire wheel to, but overall its not bad. No holes. So that may just be what you are seeing.

Depending on the real condition of the frame I would say 7000-7500 or so. Thats basically a complete base model too.

If I was in St. Louis right now I would go look at it with you, but I am out of town until Sunday. If you want to check it out next week I would be available.

Price range is up to around 11K and looking at the lower 2000's with regards to year...rjacobs, I might take you up on that offer.
