power steering pulley - plastic to metal

I've got a friend with an '01 2.5L that broke the plastic pulley on his power steering pump. My '95 has a metal pulley and I'm trying to figure out if an older metal pulley can be used to replace a newer plastic pulley. I did a little research and found that they use the same part # pump, but I'm not positive about the pulley offsets and belt width. Has anybody tried this or know if it will work?

why don't you try measuring them both with calipers?

I guess he didn't know it was plastic and he was prying on something and it got in the way and went snap. Then he broke a new one trying to press in on with a borrowed installation tool that was about worn out. He's got another new one to try again, but I thought it would be a lot harder to accidentally break a metal one if this one doesn't work out for him.
