Factory console sub? Yes! Mine sounded like a box of rocks. I just unplugged it.

The foam surround on the speaker tears when it gets old. Sounds horrible when that happens.
It's easy to replace the speaker. About a 30 minute job.

You have a few options. Depending on if it is just the foam, using Aleene's Tacky Glue. Just make sure to clean the foam off the metal. Cost only a few bucks for the Glue. I did the Tacky Glue route first but I did a lousy job cleaning it up before applying the glue. It worked for a few weeks until my niece inserted a CD of hers into it. It really pumped out some music until it detached again, but it was the material I had left on the metal that had separated.

Other option would be to replace the subwoofer, which I did the second time .I replaced my stock with Kicker 40CWRT672 and have not looked back. But I have cleaned up the stock sub for just in case something happens
