Pre Runner or Best suspension

okay, so I just got my 1999 jeep wrangler sport about a week ago. It is completely stock. I am headed up to Priest Lake Northern Idaho for the summer to work. I really want to get my suspension upgraded before I move. I want a suspension that will do great on roads but will also do the weekend trips. I like the pre-runner style because I will mostly be on old logging roads or trails. But I am a college student and cant afford the 2k for that upgrade. Any suggestions on what I should get for a cheaper price?

ok... whats your budget? How much lift do you want? What size tires do you want? What engine do you have? Auto or stick?

my budget is $1000. A big enough lift to put 33s under. I have a 4.0 and its a manual.

you wont get a true pre runner suspension for a grand, lucky if you can get a pair or coil overs and air bumps for that.

I'm personally a fan of keeping it low for a grand you can run some banging hi line fenders and run 35s with no lift.

I also worried about hitting small bumps at a high speed and loosing control. hmm.... I didn't think about getting different fenders though.

they have flair options on there i just linked the flairless version. I think you can get front and rear for just over $1000. and there are other options, Metal cloak, Poison, Genright rokmen, TNT

He can't get a proper suspension under it for $1k but he can run 35's for the same sum? You'd be correct if there wasn't more to running big tires than just fitting them.

If your budget is $1k, I'd cover the basics first--tie rod, oil pan skid, steering box skid. With the remainder, a high clearance belly skid and some good tires should cover you for a while. Don't even bother modifying the suspension until you've got the more important areas taken care of and until you can do what you want to do without compromising.
