problem with CB

Hey guys/gals...
I have had a problem with my CB forever! It never works... My dad and I went out tonight and played with it and figured it out...

If you look at the picture... The light blue parts (bottom of antenna (we used a longer antenna to test) and the outside of the coax cord the reading was PERFECT, between 1 and 1.5 swr) Once we put the setup as it is the meter was off the chart, all the way to the right..

The reading was all the way to the right (with or without an antenna..) but once we put the bottom of the antenna to the outside of the coax, it was perfect, no red light for the antenna (which it was on the other times) and it was reading perfect.

Now the light green section is what we think the problem is... I don't think the coax is getting through the mount...

If anyone could help me on what I should do, like what part I should get or anything, let me know please!!

Second picture is the antenna we used that worked perfect.

I can't tell for sure but it looks like your mount is shorting your antenna directly to ground via the mounting bracket (per below). The antenna mount that the spring screws into is supposed to be insulated via a nylon insulating shoulder washers from the steel mount that bolts to the tub.

You can see the insulating shoulder washer below that is supposed to insulate the antenna from the mounting bracket....

When you have a choice, buy American.

Jerry, thanks a lot, went back out there not 10 minutes ago, and set it up like that... Guess what, it's fixed, thanks a lot!
