Problems after heater core installation

Hello,

I am hoping I can get some suggestions on how to troubleshoot problems I am having after a heater core installation.

My son recently replaced the heater core on my '97.

Before the replacement, when heat was working, I didn't get any air from the defrost vent at the windshield. Fresh air venting worked fine.

AFTER replacement of the heater core, I still don't get air from the defrost vent at the windshield, but I also noticed less air flow from the other vents even though I can hear the air flow increasing when I move the fan switch. Also, I cannot switch between heat and fresh air, hot air constantly comes out, even with the switch in the "off" position. I am glad to have heat again, but it sucks not being able to control it!

Any ideas would be appreciated!

I think those flaps that control the vents where the air comes out work off vacuum? That sounds like the issue. You may have foam gasket material stuck in the motor mechanism or a vacuum line not conected. Try searching the forum for that.
