Hi all, my LJ already has what appears to be a procomp lift (wish i knew, but no idea what size, but it does have 35's). I understand that these lifts are on the more undesirable side of the fence, but is there anything that I should really be concerned with? Anything I should replace now before bigger problems down the road? I do like to wheel, but mostly mud/trails no rock climbing. Hoping those with experience with this lift can help out. Thanks in advance for the feedback!
Depends on what "level" it was and lift height. If it was the basic springs and shocks then there isn't anything to worry about. The shocks are valved very stiff for a TJ though so replacing those can improve ride quality.
Likely though if you've got 35s it's a larger lift that came with other components. In that case I'd start replacing everything but the springs.
This is mine. It's a 4" procomp. The suspension is really stuff but I mean I'm happy with it. As long as you get the right stuff replaced when you lift it you shouldn't have a problem. You'll just have a stuff ride
I have a 4" pro comp lift on mine with es 9000's & it's not too bad of a ride. Of course it rode like crap until I replaced the shocks, but the old 2000's I had were worn out pretty bad.
The fixed lower control arms have poly bushings. Don't be surprised if they cause your lower control arm brackets to tear from the axle housing like mine did (happened before I bought it.....I removed the kit).
oh, if you have that trackbar bracket like you see above.....get rid of it.
Thanks all! I will look into new shocks eventually, but I'm ok with the tractor ride for now (it's not my dd). However those control arms seem like they can become a real problem..maybe the first thing I should replace.
Yea you need to make sure you replace those. I had to replace my control arms, sway bars, track bar etc
