Project: My first jeep

Hey guys, I don't post often in the wrangler forums, but now I'm going to start more now that I actually own a wrangler. I just got it from my dad after hes had it since 98 and he just upgraded to a 01 Sahara. I want to make this jeep bad to the bone, but not spend TOO much money.

98 sport 2.5L I6 5 speed manual 334,000 miles, soon to be getting its first clutch change.

I want the red and black color jeep style.. but since the jeep it white, and I dont have the time or money to paint it black or red, i have to work with what ive got.
I know i want to paint all the fender flares and bumpers black. But im not sure about painting the rims black too.. and i know im going to put a hard top on it.. this is why im posting this. I want everyones input on it and to give me some ideas to make people stare... In a good way of course! All ideas are welcome so feel free to comment! thanks -Jon

2.5L is a 4 cylinder
4.0L is a 6 cylinder

Which do you have?

But nice jeep man, I love white jeeps!

Ahh gotcha. Are you going to wheel it?

Either way... I would start with some seat covers and floor mats to make for easy cleaning.

Yeah, but offroading isn't going to kill the jeep if you keep up with the maintenance.

Still, i wouldnt do much of it anyways.. you think seat covers would do justice? because i was thinking about just buying two aftermarket seats.. but they are so expensive so i was on the fence about that.

1 find local junk yard
2 buy front divers seat (seat dose not need to match) and front zj springs
3 install parts from junkyard (ZJ springs bring the front up more level with rear and are direct fit)
4 buy seat covers
5 get rid of milk jugs (or replace hole bumper up to you)
6 paint dash
7 buy lots of your fav color paracord
8 learn to do cool things with paracord (grab handles wrap steering wheel and such)
9 love you new jeep (get the hotties)
10 find cool stickers on your travels

that's all i have done so far and i love driving my jeep and is not expensive at all, with what i have listed $250 to $300 depending how much paracord you buy and what seat covers you get i made some auto zone ones work for my front and rear seats required a sewing machine

My dad said there would be issues painting the rims though because they are aluminum.. I considered powder coating but then you can't touch it up, but bead lining jus seems over kill.. I either want white rims, or black ones.. Would the white ones be too hard to keep clean?

Also, just bought new all terrain 30 inch tires, so I won't be upgrading to a bigger set any time soon!

plasti dip them it will work.. and the great thing about plasti dip is if you dont like it you can peel it off.

Sell the rims on CL. Those stock rims will go fast and you can use that money to buy Soft 8's.

The milk jugs must go if you are serious about the Bad Ass look. Wrangler look like a joke with them on.

Bedliner the inside of the tub is NOT overkill. Can do yourself for $150. Lots of threads on here about it.

Seat covers or yard seats is a good idea.

The steps also contribute to the NON Bad Ass look.

Okay I'll check out the plasti dip and removing the milk jugs. Hah
does anyone know why the fog lights wouldn't work? The switch illuminates when I push it down, but the lights don't come on. The fuse is good, how can I check if I'm getting power to them?

Your seats look like mine, but even dirtier. Several folks on here have recommended foaming carpet cleaner or simple green. Hose it down, let it sit for a while, then scrub with heavy brush. It wont fix the tears, but it might at least get the cloth clean, for next to nothing

A hose wont hurt the seats, just drop the top and let them dry in the sun

When you put the top back up, you may want another air freshener if you don't like the smell of musty seats though.

Hard top or soft top? Hard tops are quieter, but you need two people to take it off. A soft top is louder and have to replace it every few years, but you can just take the windows off or the whole thing off if you wanted by yourself.. I'm stuck in this decision.

i should get a bikini top for my jeep. i hate putting the hard top on just for a threat of rain. i live on the cape where the weather man is always wrong and if its nice out it will rain and if they call for rain it will be nice.
