Welcome... Now the fun begins... Is she going to built or just driven? Any wheeling in your future?

Thanks everyone!

My first step is to get her in good running shape. The radiator has issues, the brakes probably need to be replaced, the parking brake doesn't work, needs back seat belts (might as well update the fronts to) and a rear view mirror. Will add some tow hooks to the bumpers. Will also put together a gear bag to keep in her with tow straps, tools, patch kit, etc.

Following that I will try to get her looking good with paint on the fenders, probably some seat covers (or new seats), sand down and paint the soft top hardware, address any rust (you can see it starting around hinges and bolts), and so forth.

Down the road, I will definitely add a small lift. Thinking about narrow tires instead of wide... I think that gives it a fast look that would go well with the color. Probably not the best idea for the Florida sand, but my JK would be able to recover her if need be.

Beyond that, we'll see what happens. It's the wife's, so I told her she could build it how she wanted.

Going to be fun!

Looks like its official name is 'bright jade satin glow'. We just call it teal.

Also I found a wall plug dangling in the engine compartment. Thought someone might have left a power tool in there so I followed it to the engine block. It's a plug in block heater.

That got me poking around a little more and it turns out it a Canadian jeep. Built to their standards. Kind of interesting that I have a foreign jeep now

I have a 97 with front bumper guards. I wonder if the PO put them on.

Interesting....that color is not listed for U.S. TJ's in model year 1997 so maybe this is Canadian-only?

Also the engine block heater was a factory option on the TJ. You should get a free copy of your Build Sheet (search this for the link) and post it up for us to see.

On the bumper guard issue, according to Jeep, that feature was introduced in model year 1998.

^found it.....in another TJ resource book they show "Bright Jade Satin Glow" as an available color for the SE and Sport (not just for export models). Don't see a lot of these do we.

Thanks for looking into that...

I read that color was only available in 97/98. Makes it that much cooler to me.

Can't wait to get some things done! This weekend is going to be a busy one
