I would like to know about this year model and in general about jeeps ?
I have a four wheel drive truck and wanted a smaller scale four wheel drive so I invested in a 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara to putt around town in and take it to the ranch. It's in Mint condition hard loaded and with only 43k miles "Yes I said 43k miles , garage kept and just beautiful and so much fun to drive. Any outside help would be appreciated on this year model . Just trying to get more aquainted to my new toy . Thanks y'all
Welp ...... Ole Heep a long had a cracked cylinder head ( known issue with the 00 model year ). Some twiddle dumped it into the used car market after throwing everything at it that he thought was wrong with it except the right part. Must have been a parts hanger or his "My Mechanic" was mentality challenged.
Some lessons you just have to learn the hard way. Part two of that lesson had been trying to get Clearwater to stand behind the "new" head they sent me......... only 4,500 miles put on it in 13 and a half months. 45 days out of warranty! And of course the installer was also mentality challenged ( came with very high recommendations from the locals, I think some high school kids would have done a better job ). One day I'll give Clearwater and Moyers Garage a good review.
Wait I just did!
The heads on that year Jeep can crack. Exhaust manifolds can crack sometimes too. Don't think it happens to all of them, but it has been known to happen. Other than that, keep an eye on the frame for rust issues, but being in Texas you probably won't have to deal with that.
My 01 has the infamous 0331 tupy with 226k on the clock. Keep the fluids fresh, don't twist off idiot, & she'll serve you well for many a year. Welcome to the band!
Sounds like you have a gem. Stock, low miles, condition, not many around. The only I know of is the head problem. So be very careful and monitor the fluids for coolant contamination. Also google the problem to see if there are any other heads up indicators. Would be awful to ruin that low mile engine.
02 TJ Sport, purchased in 08 with 68 and change; on the clock. Been trailed some and DD'd, some but mostly garaged for numerous up-grades.
Now it's time to Rock and Roll!
Bought my '03 Rubi three years ago with 112K miles. First vehicle I have had with that many miles, but it was backed by my dealer. Tires were name brand by WalMart and they come off a year later with plenty of tread but very noisy. New quality tire and it drives like a dream. I had the fortune to later meet the original owner and got good info on when various item were serviced.
It now has 123K on it, but I am retired and don't have a DD.
