putting myTJ parts on LJ

Over the last 9 months i have spent all of my time/money building up my 97 tj with high miles (220k), im looking back and shaking my head thinking i should have started out with a "fresher" platform so Im seriously kicking around the idea of buying a 04-06 unlimited and taking all of the aftermarket parts i have on my 97 off and changing them over. What will not be compatable? the only thing i can think of is possibly the Rockmen short arms? but i think even those will work. Bumpers, flat fender flare's, front seats, built 8.8 axle and built stock D30, 4" lift, HD steering box, rims/tires....what wont transfer?

I was under the impression that everything was the same except the LJ was just longer. So I guess other than rocker guards and a hard/soft top everything else would work fine.

sell 'em on ebay or CL and buy new ones...you won't get everything back but you'll be in new and bigger vehicle. My only real TJ regret (sans D44s) is I didn't hold out for an LJ, but since I was trading in an 08 ridgeline I couldn't be too picky.

Depends on what mods you have. Alot of armor will not work, obvious tops, and a few other things that I can not think of at this moment but most is swapable. I did the same thing but got out of the TJ before i got too deep.

ya i wish i had this epiphany 6 months ago, it will be sooo much work swapping everything over, a few things im especially not looking forward to like the the steering box, currie correc lync steering and axles/wiring the e-lockers. Also i will have to get a new SYE and drive shaft for the LJ. How do you like your LJ over the TJ ?

Well I had an 01 TJ with 4.0 and 5 spd, I now have an 05 LJ Rubicon 6spd. Night and day! LJ is much smoother in ever aspect but main downside is that it is not the easiest navigating tight trails. A turn that wouldnt be an issue in a TJ might be a 5 pt turn in the LJ.

Well just look at it this way, At least you won't stall it making that 5 point turn I have the 06 LJ auto and love it. I do tend to drive with my right hand on the shifter though

Does your left foot still go for the "clutch" when you come to a stop?

I have a 2006 LJ Rubicon and love it. It handles so much better than my TJ did. Much smoother ride and the increase in interior room will amaze you.

im getting excited right now...... looking forward to being able to actually tow a trailer more than 500 pounds, and the space increase will be AWSOME. funny part is i waited till my build was done, locked and loaded, and looking at welding a cage in before i even considered this, ha WTF

Do you have considerably more trouble on obstacles due to wheel base length?

Depends on the obstacle. In some situations the longer wheel base helps and in some makes it a bit more challanging.

why can't you tow more than 500#? Even my 94 YJ can pull 1500# (not that I would do it, but it's rated for it) and my 03 Rubicon can handle 2000#....
what did you do, put on a 1" receiver by mistake?

Ha, no way. I havnt towed with it at all because I don't trust its short wheelbase in evasive maneuver type situation

The lift is going on the LJ along with everything except the rocker guards. The Rokmen arms said TJ/LJ so it should be good to go. Picking it up in 30 min. I'm stoked right now
