Quadratop installation and review

We bought out 2000 model Sport, in June, to used as a hunting rig.
After 12 years it was time for the original top to go. White wrangler with a white factory soft top.
I decided for a little over $300 I was going to try the Quadratec top. A quick phone call later I had my top was on the way, for $329, and free shipping, just for mentioning the Wrangler Forum. We decided we wanted clear windows and we have half doors.
I ordered on Monday and the top was here Thursday. I was impressed that the whole top could fit in such a small box. After opening the box and removing the contents, we spread everything out, so it could relax before installing the top.
Installing the door skins went alot easier than I expected. Just remember to unzip the windows. But they took a little massaging and working to get them on smoothly and the seams in the right locations. While pretty tight, putting the top deck went on was pretty easy as well. It also had to be pulled, worked, and massaged a little to get it all in place.
I was very surprised how much better new zippers worked than 12 year old ones. The windows went right in. However, the curves on the back window took a little time to work around.
After installation we took a little test drive and noticed a whistling noise. I had to work the rubber door seal on the upper right side of the passenger door. The whistling stopped. It appears to be a matter of adjusting the door skin on the frame to change the position of the seal.
It seems to be about the same as the old top with maybe just a little more noise from the top vibration.
The instructions say the windows will flatten out after the top has been on a while. I hope so. The rear and back side windows are definately not flat or smooth.
All in all I think it was the best route for us to go. The top is more of a use only when necssary item for us.
If it were a daily driver and primary vehicle I may have done differently but for us the difference in the money just made sense.
I don't have anything to compare this top to, but I highly recommend it based on what I have seen.

Totally agree, have had mine almost 2 months and it is only slightly noisier than the factory top. Not really a daily driver, so it is perfectly adequate(maybe even excellent) for the money.

I'm glad someone posted a review. I posted a thread a little while ago asking opinions on the new top (too new at the time I think). The only thing that worried me was the Quadratop is all rolled up in the box, that's why you have "wrinkly" windows. I think Besttop lays theirs out flat. the price is good though, and I am due for a new top likely going with the Quadratop, thanks for the post, guys.

I love my Quadratop. I was surprised how much it looks exactly like the factory top. Installation was crazy easy and the quality is fantastic. I debated on which to to get and many of them with lots of wrinkles look cheap and thin, but not this one. It's awesome. I got it for less than $300 and free shipping too.

Quadratop

Got my black diamond Quadratop yesterday, took me 45 min to remove my old tan one and install the new one. It was crazy easy! It looks great and I couldn't be happier. Cost me $350.00 with shipping.

Nice! That thing looks great! Is yours noisier than stock? I'm just wondering if the black diamond makes any difference with noise.

Looks good. I'm due for a new top. Every time I try to take top down it tears a little bit more.

I just bought an 05 Rubi a few weeks ago and needed a new top. I went with the Quadratop and really like it. I can't comment about the noise since this is my 1st Jeep. Replacing the top was a piece of cake. I'd recommend this top to anybody that can't drop $600+ on the nicer ones.

It's my first Jeep Wrangler. 99 TJ. Quick question How do I take off the top? It rolls back completely but does it come of like the hard top?

Here is the install . .

To take the top off, you'll need to unvelcro along the middle support bar, take out the windows, take the top down like you normally would. In the install video, you'll see where he's installing the 8 - 13 screws, just unscrew those and the top is off. For the rear window the metal bar at the bottom will slide out and then it will slide back into the new rear window.

I put mine on about 2 months ago, and my only complaint is that it is a lot looser than my original and tends to flap a lot more, so it does get louder than original. On the good side its very easy to install, and looks good.

I haven't had any issues with noise as of yet. I am very happy with it.
