Quadratop Installation and thoughts

The Big Brown truck dropped off my new Quadratop replacement canvas on Friday. I was too blown from a "fun" week of work that I ended up crashing most of the rest of Fri once I got home. I got up this morning and decided to heck with waiting for it to warm up, it was 48 degrees, and throw that puppy on the Stormcrow.

Packaging was very nicely done. There were a couple punctures in the box but nothing sharp so top was undamaged. I set to removing the old top, rust stained, torn windows, broken zippers, all around grungy.

Here is a shot of the old side windows versus the new. I can actually see out the new windows!!!

And no, the old windows were not tinted....

Only flaw I could find in any of the stitching was the Quadratec label.

The rest looks very nice and tight.

And here is the finished job. It took me around an hour and a half to 2 hours but that is due to the canvas being cold, stiff and not wanting to stretch. Patience got her done.

I think I am going to like the top. We will see how she weathers winter.

Here is a shot of the old top.

While I was putting her on this was going on overhead....

They look to be Turkey Vultures. Some of them had a huge wingspan.

Where was it made? It looks nice but I'm not interested in more made in china stuff.

China shmina...if it works...IF.

So I am thinking about getting a QTop soon too. I am trying to sell a pistol to fund the project but my top is so stinkin old that its a huge headache to deal with. I like the idea of the warranty and the zippers SEEM legit for the price. I will need some with half doors so I hope they are a good fit.

I hope it treats you well...I hope to get one within a month.

The canvas is very thick. Not sailcloth thick but as thick as the factory. Windows seem to be pretty durable.

It is labeled made in china. Not my first choice of origination, but, on my current budget, or lack of one, it is priced right. We will see if I need to use the 3 year limited warranty that it came with. lol

It is strange having the back windows so clear. Got so use to the old yellowed and scratched up ones that I have to keep checking to make sure they are actually there.

Great timing. I'm going to have to repair or replace my top.
Are you happy with the zippers? They have been my biggest concern.
Also, did you get the black denin or black diamond? Thanks.

Zippers seem pretty righteous. Black Diamond for my 04. It is nice not having to use a small vicegrips to keep the back zipper on. lol

The dark tan ones were backordered so I went with Spice w/ tinted windows. It was hard as hell to get the back window zipped the first time until I left it out in the sun for a few hours. Tight as a drum, was only marginally noisier at 70 mph than factory. Windows were remarkably clear compared to the original scratchy, blurry windows.
