That depends on what you are buying from them..

I would say always avoid smittybuilt, no matter what. I haven't bought anything from rugged ridge, but they definitely aren't a top quality brand.

GenRight, MetalCloak, Posion Spyder, Savvy( not my choice but many swear by them) just to name a few that I use and are high end companies.

Rugged Ridge, SmittyBilt, are alright companies just depends on what you buy from them. Most of the time their stuff won't line up right or they chip and rust easily. But the times I've bought from SmittyBilt I was on the lucky side barely had any troubles.
It all depends on what you are looking for and how much money you want to spend.

Which brings to question, What are you looking for from these companies?

MetalCloak by far is the best armor company out there. And every armor piece on my jeep is from them. GenRight is another "racing" company which has nice suspension and racing build parts. My lift is from GenRight and I love it. Savvy does some nice work too but have nothing from them. Currie has nice suspension and steering components.

It just depends are how much work the companies put into their pieces and are not from china or the backyard.

I say metalcloak, currie, savvy, rokmen, are all top notch and I run parts from all of them. I have the smittybilt rear tirecarrier and x2o winch. Smittybilt is not top quality and I will never buy from them again but their customer service is top notch. My winch control box burned out and they sent me a free solenoid after my warranty was up. The new solenoid didn't line up so they sent me a whole new control box and it on the way as we speak. So well stick with top quality stuff and you wont have any problems

Of the bottom of the heap names, I'd put Smittybilt at the bottom of that list in terms of quality. After old man Smitty died, his family sold the Smittybilt name to investors who now just have everything made in China. There is nothing left of the old high-quality Smittybilt company, only the name lives on.

Fixed it for you Jerry and to add, there is a large umbrella Trans is swinging which is why when you go to a 4 Wheel Parts, you get Pro-comp and similar shoved at you.

Which would explain why Pro Comp bumpers, and Smitty bumpers, look virtually identical, for example.
